Signs of Life[]

In the tie-in novel Signs of Life, There're repeated references to a Cave where weird things happen. The story occurs at least after the Middle Section Survivors find "The Caves", but the hero, Jeff, has never heard of this particular cave. It's clearly different from The Caves, as he says that people are living in The Caves. Eventually he goes to this Cave and it's nothing like any caves we've encountered in the show to my knowledge. This certainly happens before they blow th eHatch, as Locke is out hunting boars and Walt is still around. Michael, Charlie, Locke, and Hurley all know about this cave. So can someone tell me what the hell cave this is?--NotARedHerring 01:09, 14 October 2006 (PDT)

it's a non-canon thing is what it is. The makers of the show have no input on the novels (except Bad Twin). --Tarhun 07:20, 24 October 2006 (PDT)
Are you sure it's non-canon? I couldn't find much of a statement either way anywhere online, and the books, from the same publisher as Bad Twin, say that they're official.--NotARedHerring 11:22, 24 October 2006 (PDT)
According to Lostpedia:Canon, the books are canon. But I wouldn't expect that everything mentioned in the books would appear in the show, and if the two conflicted, I'd say the show always takes precedence. --Minderbinder 13:04, 24 October 2006 (PDT)

Rename[]

Should be The caves or just Caves. --SilvaStorm

  • I think it should be "The caves", as all the losties refer to it as such. "Caves" is a little ambiguous considering the discovery of other caves on the island (ie. Polar bear cave) Drath 02:05, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
  • Agree with The caves.
  • Agree on The caves.--NotARedHerring 10:59, 23 October 2006 (PDT)
  • Agree with The caves. --The Wily Panda 09:40, 24 October 2006 (PDT)
    • Coming back to this a year and a half later--it seems we had consensus pointing toward inclusion of the word "the", but somehow the article now omits it. It seems that as a particular setting on the Island, the title of this article should include both the definite article and should be capitalized, a la the Others, the Hatch, the Island, etc. Thoughts? • Agree, with a redirect from "caves" for search purposes. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 21:14, 2 April 2008 (PDT)

Locke finds Eko[]

It used to say "For where Locke finds Eko in "The Cost Of Living" see polar bear cave" It now says "For where Locke finds Eko in "Further Instructions" see polar bear cave" because Further Instructions is the episode when he finds Eko.

Steve[]

In "Left Behind" Hurley says that Steve brings water to the camp. Can we assume that this water comes from the caves? If it was so important to them is Season 1 can it be assumed that it is still a resource for them? Can we add Steve bringing water to the camp as a possible sign of the caves? Thoughts anyone? congested 23:04, 16 April 2007 (PDT)

I think he probably brings it from the caves, but it's possible they've made some kind of makeshift cistern. --Jackdavinci 12:08, 17 April 2007 (PDT)

Upanishads reference[]

"In muntaka upanishad of hindu philosophy chapter third describes a story of two birds. one is adma (soul) and another is jeev.(life) jeev eats the fruit of fig tree (Pippala). this story is told to explain even though the life (living being) is doing the worldly things (including sex) it will not affect the soul inside. the following points are coincide. adam and adma. eve and jeev. pipple and bible. fig and fig (not changed). forbidden fruit is forbidden fruit (not changed) upanishads are 5000 years old. bible is 2000 years old. is it possible that this story has taken this new shape in 3000 years?"

I think this should be deleted, as it is clearly theorising and also very grammatically incorrect to boot. Someone can feel free to place this in the Theories page, but it should not be within the main article as it has not been proven by canon. Hence I am deleting it from the article as it stands now. --Greyor 14:04, 5 June 2008 (PDT)

Steve bringing water from the Caves?[]

Was this ever stated in an episode? I thought Hurley said Steve brings water to the camp everyday. I don't think he said caves. --CTS 14:24, 5 June 2008 (PDT)

Via Domus Caves[]

Are we sure that the caves you go to in Lost: Via Domus were the caves that the survivors lived in. I have played the game multiple times and don't believe that there was any sign of them being the same caves. Also I believe that the two times you visit the caves in the game they are in fact two completely different caves all together.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  02:44, 9 December 2008 (PST)

Visitors[]

Sayid, Boone and Shannon were also seen in the caves. Do we missing more characters?--Station7 12:07, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
