Can we unprotect the main page? Edit
On Wikipedia the main page would be a constant target of vandalism if it were not protected. I'd be surprised if that were the case here. I wanted to edit the main page to see if I could give a good concise summary of the spoiler policy. Of course if hordes of vandals descend it would have to be protected again. Unprotecting the main page Edit
The main page was originally protected because in the early stages of this Wiki, whenever an edit was made on the main page, the code would be thrown out of whack, and nothing would appear as it did before, it was pretty confusing. I don't know how to explain exactly what it was that happened, but for some reason lines of code would duplicate or even triple themselves? So, once we figured out what the main page would look like, we protected it so that the information could not be changed (other than the airdates, and articles of the week), or else the code would be further altered. We're not the only wikicity that protects their main page, but for us, this was our reason.
However, I would appreciate seeing what your spoiler sumary would look like, so if you want to sent it to me via my Talk page, I'd be more than happy to consider putting it there.

Looking for Info on a vandal named 'BOB' Edit
Hi, I am a sysop at another LOST Wiki and I personally had a battle of wits with a vandal that goes under the moniker of Bob or its variants (he has used Bobby, Bob on wheels. etc) and apparently has a personal vendetta against me. I am currently searching for more info on his methods so we at our wiki can outfox and pwn him once and for all. --GodEmperorOfHell 17:42, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
I-Ching Link? Edit
Uh, yeah, I'm not a LOST regular so I didn't know where to put this... But I think I found an interesting clue. Anyway, in the episode where they try to make the SOS (like I said, I don't really watch the show that much) I noticed in one scene in the bunker that there is a distinctive wall carving. It looks very similar to that is a symbol seen in an Chinese form of divination known as I-Ching. Wheather this means anything or not is debatable, but I just thought you'd like to know. 220.127.116.11

New season starts soon Edit
Since the new season starts soon, I unprotected the front page. Well, actually I changed it from protected to semi-protected. Hopefully we can get some new users. :)--Jimbo Wales 10:16, 22 September 2006 (UTC) Edit
- New user here, finally able to check the internet for extra info now I've seen all aired episodes (small window here in the UK after the last episode airs and before the third season hits the US and the spoilers come flooding in!). I can't edit the main page though still. I wanted to change Encyclopedia/People/Characters in Alphabetical to Encyclopedia/People/All characters and to change Encyclopedia/People/Main Characters By Season to just Encyclopedia/People/Main characters. Any advice on getting access, or even better, anyone with access willing to do that in lieu? …я 21:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Main and recurring characters articles Edit
I'd like to propose adding promo images and some more screenshots to character articles. Consider it a way to improve the articles visual attractiveness.--Gonzalo84 22:52, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
We actually had a discussion about adding promo images, but we didn't want to look like Lostpedia, and we also felt that the screenshots for every character being the same size and also being directly from the show added some continuity between the articles.. So, promo images are not to be added to the character pages. --ChristianShephard 23:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Trivia/Background info section Edit
As you probably know, Wikipedia doesn't like trivia sections, which are a big part of Lost. I don't think episode summaries should carry such vital but easily missed details in their main section, and hope that this project won't do that. I've been enjoying your work and look forward to it every week. 18.104.22.168 23:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Why not lostpedia? Edit
theres already a greater wiki about Lost, the Lostpedia, it is multilingual and has much more articles?
why don't use this http://lostpedia.com/, this wiki means double work!?
and not again delete my post! discuss! --Serpen 12:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- The page at Why use Wikia? explains some of the reasons to use this one instead. However, the main reason this one needs to exist is that Lostpedia has changed its license to cc-nc-nd. The nd part of that means no derivatives. Strictly speaking, if you create a page or add any content to Lostpedia, no one is legally allowed to edit that page ever again since doing so would create a derivative work. It's a non-sensical license for a wiki that is meant to be edited, and it makes the content unfree. Angela talk 22:11, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Uh...whatever. Lostpedia smoke this one in terms of content and tabs that allow a separation of speculative and storyline-factual nature. --This unsigned message was left by 22.214.171.124
Main page designEdit
Please see this web page capture that is hosted on ImageShack :
As you can see, the problem occur in both Firefox and IE8.
It's not the first time encounter main page contain overlaping it-self on Wikia english wikis and i'm begining to wonder if it's by the same person or who copied of who... — TulipVorlax 01:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- This Wikia's main page design is an original one. Also, the main page displays properly for me. It depends on the specific display settings each user has for their system. If your screen resolution is set too low, the site will appear run-together. I have confirmed this with a secondary source, who also was able to load the main page properly without any issues. I believe the optimal resolution to view this site is 1280x800. If your resolution is set at 1024x768, it will appear as it does in that image you have provided. I believe the lowest the resolution that can be set in order to view this site properly is 1280x600. --GentleBen 03:14, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Obsolete Main Page Content Edit
I think that now that LOST is over, the main page no longer needs a "Most Recent Episode" section or air-dates, or "During the Season"
I also would suggest that the "Latest Episodes" section of the left-column menu be changed simply to "Episodes" with perhaps a link to the season pages, each of which has a list of the season's episodes.

You make a good point there. Since the templates are unprotected, you can edit there.--Station7 15:17, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
This is not completely true. One is able to edit the templates and delete contents, but the headings would still be there, which probably would look quite ugly. For that reason, it would be great to see an admin unprotecting or editing the main page. 126.96.36.199 19:48, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
still dont understandEdit
ive always used lostpedia and just found this wikia today. its pretty legit by the way. it says above when someone else asked, that lostpedia doesnt legally allow someone to edit an already edited page. i dont understand that at all unless it was only a very brief change back around the time the question was asked. because otherwise wouldnt all the pages have been changed to destruction and the admins would be screwed and unable to fix it? also, i just edited a page on there and then reversed the change i made just to see if it would work and it did.
