Season 2 has 23 episodes aired in the United States and Canada on Wednesdays at 9:00pm starting September 21, 2005. Most of the story, which continues 45 days after the crash, focuses on the growing conflict between the survivors and the Others, with the continued clash between faith and science being thematic in certain episodes. While some mysteries are resolved, new questions are raised. New characters are introduced, including the tail-section survivors and other island inhabitants. More island mythologies and insights into the survivors' pasts are divulged. The hatch is explored and the existence of The DHARMA Initiative and its benefactor, the Hanso Foundation, are revealed. As the truth about the mysterious Others begins to unfold, one of the crash survivors betrays the other castaways, and the cause of the plane crash is revealed.

Man of Science, Man of Faith

After the hatch is blown, Kate and Locke venture inward. More of Jack's past is revealed, and he makes a tough decision to enter the hatch.


Michael and Sawyer brave the sea after the raft is destroyed. Meanwhile, Locke and Kate meet the mysterious Desmond within the hatch.

Jack, Kate, Locke, and Desmond attempt to repair the damaged computer. Locke's life before the crash reveals a past love. And Michael, Jin, and Sawyer find a Flight 815 survivor.

Everybody Hates Hugo

Hurley is put in charge of inventory of the food inside the hatch, his past experiences interfere causing him to have trouble. And Michael, Jin, and Sawyer are brought to the Tail Sections camp.

...And Found

Michael, Jin and Sawyer lead the Tail Section survivors towards their Camp, and Michael ventures off to find Walt. Jin and Sun's past is further revealed, and Sun loses her wedding ring.


Shannon and Sayid wander through the jungle after visions of Walt occur. The Tail Section group slows their trek after Sawyer's infection worsens.

Reveals the First 48 Days on the island in a linear format from the Tail Section's point of view.


Ana-Lucia takes tyrannical control of the group, and her past before the crash is unveiled. Meanwhile, inside the hatch a plan is formulated to get hostages returned safely.

After discovering Charlie's Virgin Mary Statue, Mr. Eko demands that Charlie take him to the plane that he obtained it from and Michael receives a second haunting message from Walt via the computer.

The Hunting Party

Michael takes off in search of Walt, and Jack, Locke and Sawyer gather their weapons and pursue him across the island.

Charlie begins to have dreams that lead him to believe that Aaron may be in danger. Sawyer helps Hurley admit his attraction to Libby.

The Long Con

Sun is attacked, and to prevent an uprising Locke hides the guns. Little does the camp know, they are being conned in the process by Sawyer.

Sawyer enlists Hurley to help him find a tree frog that has been terrorizing him. Sayid encounters a man named Henry Gale who he believes is an "Other", and Sayid does what he must to get the truth.

Maternity Leave

Aaron becomes sick and Claire desperately searches for a cure. Her questions lead her deep into the jungle with Rousseau and Kate where they discover the location that she was taken to by Ethan.

The Whole Truth

Sun believes that she may be pregnant, and becomes determined to discover the truth. Ana-Lucia speaks with Henry inside the hatch and receives a map leading to his alleged balloon.

The Hatch's blast doors come down on Locke's legs and he enlists Henry Gale to help him push the button. On the beach, Jack and Sawyer engage in a "friendly" game of poker.

Ep18 Dave

The food provisions from the supply drop are passed out, and Hurley begins to see a fellow patient from his former asylum around the island and has great difficulty dealing with it.

Bernard enlists the survivors to assist him in the construction of an S.O.S. signal on the beach, and Jack and Kate venture into the jungle to force a prisoner exchange with "The Others".

The survivors lay Ana-Lucia and Libby to rest on the beach. Meanwhile, Michael's experiences during his absence are revealed.

Live Together, Die Alone

Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sawyer follow Michael to the Others camp. Inside the hatch, Locke prevents Eko, and then Desmond, from pushing the button. Desmond's past before his arrival is revealed.
