Aaron baptise

Aaron and Claire getting baptised by Mr. Eko

  • Played by unknown babies, as well as a doll.

Before the Crash

On the Island

  • Born around the same time of Boone's death
  • Kidnapped by Rousseau in a plot to trade him for her child Alex
  • Rescued from Rousseau by Charlie and Sayid
  • Is soothed by the sound of Sawyer's voice
  • Fawned over by Charlie
  • Sleeps in a crib made by Locke and Claire
  • Charlie took the baby while sleep-walking
  • Charlie took him to baptize him, when everybody was concentrating on the fire
  • Was baptized by Mr. Eko, along with his mother
  • Became sick in Maternity Leave. Claire believed it was caused by the time she spent with The Others and sought the cure at the location where she had been held. She did not find what she was looking for but Aaron recovered by the end of the episode.
  • Was supposed (from the point of view of The Others or just Ethan) to be born in the Medical Station, which also had a Nursery.
  • Gets injections of CR 4-81516-23 42 medicine while in the station.
  • His illness was diagnosed by Jack as roseola, apparently correctly.
  • Is being breastfed.
  • Is the only child among the main survivor characters other than Walt. Both children are described as very special, Aaron by Richard Malkin and Walt by Mr. Friendly.
  • He is 3 weeks and five days old as of the end of Season 2.

Aaron, nibbling on the bootie found in The Staff

  • Nicknamed "Turniphead" by Charlie
  • In Exodus Jin asks Clare what Aaron means, which Clare doesn't know. In Abrahamic Mythology, Aaron means "bearer of martyrs".
  • Mr. Eko made mention that Aaron was the name of Moses' brother. Elder brother of Moses, Aaron became Moses' spokesman, persuading the Israelites to follow Moses and performing miracles with his staff, which turned into a viper before Pharoah (Exodus 7:8-14), and unleashed the first three plagues. Aaron joined Moses, Nadav and Avihu on Mount Sinai to receive the Covenant, and saw a vision of God (Exodus 24:9). During Moses' 40-day encounter with God, Aaron acceded to popular demand by making a golden calf, outraging Moses (Exodus 32). Aaron became chief priest after the Ark and Tabernacle were constructed. Aaron died aged 123 on Mount Hor, allegedly denied entry to the Promised Land because he called forth water from a rock by invoking his own name ( "I command") instead of by invoking the name of God ( "I command you in the name of God").
  • Aaron is the name of Kyle Rayner's (The Green Lantern, as featured in Walt's comic "Faster Friends") father, who was a military man and worked for a covert government agency. Aaron Rayner left his family when Kyle was almost 3 years old, he had been sent on a mission to Southeast Asia and never came back or listed as dead or missing in action.
  • Aaron and Boone have a strong connection, one being born and one dying at the same time. This brings up the name connection of Aaron Boone, the man who for the Yankees, hit the series winning home run against the Red Sox.
    • This coincides with how the Red Sox, which at the time of the start of the show hadn't won a world series since 1918.
    • Every one of the numbers is a number retired by the New York Yankees.

Unresolved Questions

  • Is the couple attempting to adopt in Sydney related to the Dharma Initiative? The couple is the same as in a photo kept by Desmond in the Hatch
  • What is so special about Aaron that caused the psychic to be adamant that he not be raised by anyone other than Claire? That causes Charlie to have dreams of Aaron with religious context?
  • Did the psychic knowingly send Claire and Aaron to the Island?
  • Why did The Others seemingly lose interest in Aaron after the death of Ethan?
  • Claire's pregnancy with Aaron was engineered by Hanso Corp, which is why they try to adopt him through the Sydney couple and when that doesn't work they hire the psychic Richard Malkin (an admitted fraud) to get her on the Oceanic flight which they control.

Theories

  • There will be a struggle of some sort that involves Aaron and Walt, the two "special" children, used as pawns by opposing sides.
    • The small pieces in backgammon represent children, one light and one dark. This could refer to the fact that Aaron is white and Walt is black, or it could mean that one will be used for good and one for evil.
