The Door is a set of two metal doors, with a DHARMA Initiative logo on them. The Door is located next to a remarkable rock formation and it was thought to be the entrance to another DHARMA Initiative station. Yet, when the door was later opened by Sayid (see list of station explorers) in Live Together, Die Alone, he discovered there was only solid rock behind it. The purpose of the deception is unknown.

The Door was first seen by Michael when he was kidnapped by The Others. At that time it was guarded by two Others.

The Door is surrounded by what appeared to be an Others camp. Michael was brought here after being kidnapped by the Others. When Sayid entered the camp however, he discovered it was abandoned.

Trivia

  • The Door was found and photographed by local residents of Hawaii before its episode, Three Minutes, aired.

Theories

  • Possible candidates for its location on the blast door map are the "C3?", the C4?", the crossed out station, and the "ABORTED [station] #7".
  • Could be the scribbled out station on the Blast Door Map, drawn when it was discovered by Radzinsky or Kelvin, but was found not to be a station and was subsequently crossed out.
  • The door may have been created as a distraction in their plan to get Hurley, Kate, Jack, and Sawyer.
  • The rock may be a facade and there might be a way to get past it.
    • The Door may be a psychological research station. The rock wall is an expirement, and there is some way to get past it. For example, it may serve a similar purpose to the blast doors inside The Swan. In fact, they might very well be blast doors that are made of rock, or built to look like it.
      • The fact that there were guards outside the door may have been a part of the expirementation going on inside.
      • The Doors may not even lead to a station, but may be part of an expirement being conducted from a totally different location/station.
      • Could be where the other captives are being held. And/ or be home to where the "tests" that Walt spoke of happen.
  • The fact that the entire camp outside was abandoned, not just empty, but cleared of all of its contents, lends weight to the theory that both the door and the camp are just meant to keep up the charade of the Others.
  • The fake Door is a copy of the hatch of a real station or The Door may still be a hatch/station on the island, just not at the location of the camp. The hatch doors may have been scavenged from another station entrance.
  • The Door was once used as a kind of Pandora's Box experiment. A DHARMA team were told that they had to guard 'The Door' but must never open it. At one point the guards curiosity got the better of them and they opened the door. When they discovered there was nothing inside they realised that they were part of an experiment and abandoned it. The Others used the same tactic to trick Michael into believing The Door was important.
  • The Door may be an entrance to an actual station that has caved in, or was intentionally filled in with earth by for reasons unknown (The Incident, perhaps?).
    • If The Door is genuine, it could have been the subject of an Incident itself.
